Inside The Archive: Beckman “Answer Machines”

In 1976, Beckman Instruments worked to increase its health care products, part of the company’s “answer machines.” In this image from the year’s Annual Report, lab (Fullerton) member and Applications Chemist Linda Crans picks up a sample to transfer into the reaction chamber of the Beckman Chloride/Carbon Dioxide Analyzer, which could provide precise measurements of both ions in as little as 30 seconds.
